Mini-Mation: The Winter Soldier

What's this?  An actual animation project? I bet you thought those were done.  Well, you were wrong.  Super wrong.  Mega Wrong.  Ultwrong.  And this video was made completely of my own will, not a school assignment.  The little figures in the video are Mini Mates of the Winter Soldier Ultron from the Marvel universe.  My friend Ethan graciously loaned them for the purpose of goofing off.  You can check out his action figure blog either here or in the "Friends of Tim's Blarg" tab over on the right.  But now, I present this, my latest work, which took a whole lunch to think up, prep, and execute.  Enjoy.

One Thousand: Update 1

So as promised, here is the first update to my character project.  I've just about finished modeling the person in 3D aside from some very minor tweaks.  The next step will be adding texture, but for the time being she's just flat grey.  Stay tuned for the next update coming soon.  More images after the jump.

Calculus with Dragons

I was digging through my heaps of random stuff and I found something that I guess I'd decided to keep from high school. I'm quite glad I did because I don't think I could have summarized my experience with math any better verbally.

I just love how thorough and detailed the drawing is while the actual worksheet is only about 1/4 completed.  Breaking a pencil, crushing a TI-89 calculator, destroying a textbook, and scorching the word "math" into dust.
I did complete calculus, for those who are curious, if only just.  Thankfully, that was the last math class I've had to take.

Commissionary

Recently I was asked to design a cover for the upcoming book "Knights in Shining Spandex" by Emily Bentz.  After reading through a brief synopsis of the plot and characters it sounded like an interesting endeavor and, since I've never made any money off of my art before, a chance to become acquainted with the world of commission pieces.  It's a cool idea for a story and if any of you are interested in the superhero genre, I recommend keeping your eyes open for it in the future.  Anyway, here is the cover I came up with for the book.  It may differ slightly from the final design but the core is solid.

One Thousand

I realize compared to most other blogs, 1000 views is barely an accomplishment, but given that this started out with no intention of anyone but my collage professors seeing it, I think 1000 views is pretty damn impressive.  So in the spirit of my initial posts, I'll give you a preview of some work I'm doing as part of a class. These are the initial stages of design for a character I will eventually be modeling and animation in 3D using Autodesk Maya.

Blarchives

So, it's been a while without a post, so I decided to go rooting through my old pieces and I picked out some of my favorites.  I'll be explaining these as I go so I'll get right to the pictures.  More after the jump.

Return Fire

Yes, much like the swords, I just can't stop at just one batch.  So here we go, firing off another round of guns, and yes, I am aware that that was an awful pun.  I sincerely apologize.  But anyway, enjoy this collection after the jump.  There is absolutely more to come later.
